Where Are The Members of The Bling Ring Now?

I feel like the Bling Ring, as both a concept and a blip in pop culture, is something that Gen Z has missed. If the TikTok and YouTube houses of old were ransacked and burgled, it would be the only thing we’d be seeing on social media. Alas, we’re left with the OG Bling Ring, but that story is getting explored more and more via exclusive interviews and documentaries. Now, the elusive, alleged leader of the gang, Rachel Lee, has spoken up in a new documentary, “The Ringleader: The Case of the Bling Ring.”

Now, if you’re unfamiliar with the Bling Ring, it is the name given to seven teens/young adults who burgled the homes of celebrities between 2008 and 2009. Targets included Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, Orlando Bloom, Miranda Kerr, Megan Fox, etc. Over the course of that time, around $3 million worth of cash and goods were stolen.

As Starr and I discuss on this week’s episode of POPSUGAR Rush, looking at the Bling Ring through adult eyes, and without the Sofia Coppola/Emma Watson of it all, it feels… complicated. Granted, neither of us committed major crimes that garnered international attention when we were teenagers, but that doesn’t mean we didn’t do stupid or even harmful things we regret. In fact, a large part of “The Ringleader” focuses on posts made on MySpace that connect the dots of the crimes together. If my old tweets, for example, surfaced as part of a major documentary, I would simply evaporate into the ether, never to be heard from again.

Where Are the Bling Ring Now?

Now, as far as the whereabouts of the members of the gang, only some of them have made major public appearances. Rachel Lee, the subject of “The Ringleader”, has long been quiet until now. She paid the price for her crimes and doesn’t seem too chuffed with how she and the crimes have been represented in pop culture thus far. Go figure.

This is the exact opposite path taken by Alexis Neiers, perhaps the group’s most infamous face. It felt like no time had passed since the teens were charged before Neiers landed her own reality TV show, “Pretty Wild”, and gave us what is unequivocally one of the most iconic reality TV moments of all time.

While Neiers (now Haines) and Nick Prugo (now Norgo) spoke up in last year’s “Bling Ring: Hollywood Heist”, the other members of the Ring have maintained relatively low profiles. That being said, “The Ringleader” has birthed the knowledge of a new personality: Eden. Eden (pronounced ‘Edd-en’) claims to be an early victim of the burglaries, and has made absolutely no secret of this on their social media platforms. Incredible scenes.
