How to Get a Celeb-Worthy Stylist Experience in Australia for Just $40

If you’ve ever stared at street style outfits on Instagram or in a glossy magazine, wondering how on earth some women manage to look so effortlessly chic, like they’ve just thrown a few pieces together moments before leaving the house and without a single deliberation, same.
One influencer I follow, @emitaz (if you don’t follow her already, I highly recommend you do) — I just can’t understand how she manages to nail the perfect street style look, Every. Time.
She’ll literally be wearing two jumpers — one tied around her shoulders, the other worn normally — or baggy jeans with visible socks and trainers, and she still always looks like a million bucks. How?!
While you could attempt to copy a celebrity or influencer’s outfit by buying their exact pieces, as I have many a’time with @emitaz — and, I do have to say that these days, with direct-to-shop links on Instagram, it is quite easy to do — if you’re looking to create, well, your own looks, might I suggest a new online styling service called Your Style Edit?
Because as iconic fashion name Diane von Furstenberg once said, “Style is something each of us already has, all we need to do is find it.”
So, how exactly does it work? Well, first, you’ll head to the site and pick your styling need — a curated look for a specific event, an updated section of your wardrobe or a full wardrobe overhaul.
Next, you’ll fill out a questionnaire so the stylists can get to know you and find out what exactly you’re after. Their aim, of course, is to make your edit completely suited to you.
And finally, you’ll place your order and, within 72 hours, will be sent your personalised edit with all edit items directly linked so you can shop them directly.
I tried out the full wardrobe overhaul service and got an edit of clothes and accessories I’d never have picked for myself, including a camel-coloured, double-breasted blazer, comfy-looking, brown slides and even a perfume (it was Who is Elijah’s Haze, if you’re wondering).
Also in the edit was a bargain white button-up from Cotton for $40 and eye-catching, gold hoops from Reliquia. I loved that it was a mix of high and low pieces, and really did seem suited exactly to me.
If you’re not sure you want to commit to paying for the service just yet, I’d recommend you have a browse of their existing edits and then seeing if you’d actually buy some of the recommended pieces. In saying that, though, there is something to be said for an edit that’s entirely tailored to you – it does make you feel rather special.
