“It Has Changed My Whole Life”: Love Island’s Georgia Harrison on the Power of Meditation

You probably discovered Georgia Harrison on Love Island UK in 2017 and now follow her life on Instagram like over a million other people. Harrison is a lover of all things beauty and wellness and credits meditation for changing her life drastically. “It helps me to release anxiety and slow down when my workload is overwhelming,” Harrison told POPSUGAR Australia.

Harrison is also the global ambassador for Woo Woo — the natural female care brand that is fun and fearless. The range of Woo Woo products is designed to pamper, protect and pleasure your woo woo, while also encouraging you to have honest conversations about your vagina — something that is often considered taboo.

Harrison is all about encouraging these topics and does so with her loved ones. “The best way to help others have more confidence with these sorts of conversations is by having them yourself and showing it’s completely normal to talk about,” she said.

POPSUGAR Australia was lucky enough to chat with Harrison about all things beauty, the products she turned to in lockdown, the role meditation plays in her daily life and the one book she always recommends to people.

POPSUGAR Australia: What role does meditation play in your life?

Georgia Harrison: It has changed my whole life. It helps me to release anxiety and slow down when my workload is overwhelming. There are so many studies that prove the benefits of mediation. Your brain is constantly in thinking mode and it needs time to just switch off and allow your body to relax. I genuinely think it should be taught in schools.

PS: What’s one book that has changed your life and that you recommend to everyone?

GH: For beginners to the law of attraction and spirituality, The Magic by Rhonda Byrne, but for more advanced readers, The Holographic Universe by Micheal Talbot. This book is mind-blowing and by far the best I’ve read in a long time. Oh and any of the ‘Abraham Hicks’ books (The Art of Allowing) being one of my favourites. I’m a book geek!

PS: Can you please tell us a little about what your skincare routine looks like?

GH: If I’m having a nice night in, I will go all out with a face scrub, cleanse, tone, then place on some under-eye pads for 20 mins followed by a sleeping lip mask and my lash and brow serum — Georgia by Executive Styles ($44.99).

PS: What’s one beauty rule you always follow?

GH: Use a sensitive wash for your intimate area, not just any random all-over one. The ph balance is designed to prevent irritation and thrush.

PS: What’s a beauty tip you always share with friends?

GH: Keep some eye drops in your clutch bag on a night out.

PS: When salons and beauty parlours were closed during lockdown, was there one beauty hack that got you through?

GH: The Woo Woo Hair Removal Cream ($26.95). I really do not react well to excessive shaving so with waxing off the cards, the hair removal cream was perfect for me and now they are doing wax strips too so if there happens to ever be another lockdown, I’m sure it will go smoothly!

PS: What’s your favourite product in the Woo Woo range?

GH: The Chamomile Cleanse Intimate Wash — it smells amazing and is so soothing.

PS: How do you encourage your friends and family to be more open about feminine hygiene, periods and pap smears?

GH: Honestly, just by talking about it myself and setting an example. The best way to help others have more confidence with these sorts of conversations is by having them yourself and showing it’s completely normal to talk about.
