I hope you all have empty social calendars, because this month is chock-a-block of new game releases. There are killer titles coming out for PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch, so we’ll cut right to the chase — here are the games coming out in October that should be on your radar.
Overwatch 2
Platform: PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch
Release date: October 5
We’re kicking things off with the highly-anticipated sequel to Blizzard’s team-based shooter. Overwatch 2 is much the same as the original game but with improved visuals, gameplay tweaks and more characters, maps and game modes. The biggest difference is the free-to-play model and the introduction of seasonal Battle Passes.
No Man’s Sky
Platform: Nintendo Switch
Release date: October 7
No Man’s Sky gives you a ship and lets you loose on a procedurally generated universe. You can become an explorer or a mercenary, build a settlement on an alien planet or travel the stars to uncover the mysteries of the universe.
Making such a massive game run on Switch required sacrifices, and multiplayer and alien settlements didn’t make the cut (at least not at launch). It’ll still be pretty incredible to experience it on-the-go with the Switch.
Scorn
Platform: PC, Xbox Series X|S
Release date: October 14
Scorn isn’t for the faint of heart. This first-person horror game is inspired by H.R. Giger and gives us the serious creeps — in a good way.
The story is being kept pretty secretive, but we’ve learned that the game will be split into locations with their own theme, story, puzzles and characters.
A Plague Tale: Requiem
Platform: PC, PS5, Xbox Series X
Release date: October 19
The sequel to A Plague Tale: Innocence reunites us with Amicia and Hugo as they continue their journey through plague-ridden France to survive and cure Hugo’s blood disease.
Like the first game, Requiem tells a grounded story with supernatural elements elegantly woven in, and you can choose to play stealthily or face your enemies head-on.
Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed
Platform: PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One
Release date: October 19
Team up with three friends to bust ghosts in this asymmetrical multiplayer game that’s actually 5v5 — that’s right, one person gets to play as the ghost! Their job is to haunt, hide, sneak and slime while the Ghostbusters attempt to catch them with Particle Throwers and Proton Packs.
In between missions you’ll return to the firehouse to customise your gear, choose missions and interact with some of the original cast including Dan Akroyd and Ernie Hudson as Ray Stantz and Winston Zeddemore.
Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection
Platform: PC
Release date: October 20
Uncharted will make its PC debut on October 20 when the Legacy of Thieves Collection launches. For the first time ever, PC players can experience Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy with improved visuals and more accessibility features.
Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope
Platform: Switch
Release date: October 20
Mario and the Rabbids are back for Sparks of Hope, a follow-up to Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle that found success by smooshing Nintendo and Ubisoft franchises together.

New Tales From the Borderlands
Platform: PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Switch
Release date: October 21
The aptly named New Tales From the Borderlands has everything that makes the series great: laugh out loud dialogue, loveable weirdo characters and classic, cackling villains.
We spoke to the developers last month, who told us the game has multiple endings that are determined by your choices, branching story arcs, mini-games and skins. Pre-orders are live now.
Gotham Knights
Platform: PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S
Release date: October 22
Batman is dead, and you’re the only thing standing between Gotham and destruction. Luckily, you play as Batgirl, Nightwing, Robin and Red Hood, so the villains have a lot to worry about.
Gotham Knights combines the satisfying combat of the Arkham games with RPG elements and a co-op mode — it sounds, at least on paper, like the ideal Batman game.
