I can’t believe I’m saying this, but happy 10th anniversary to Carly Rae Jepsen’s debut single ‘Call Me Maybe’, which came out on this day, 10 years ago.

10 years. Let’s just sit on that for a minute.

If you can remember where you were when you heard this song for the first time, then join the club. I was at the shopping mall with my friends, our school skirts rolled up, our eyeliner thick, sipping on peanut butter smoothies on our way to getting our noses pierced. It was peak high school.

Now that I think about it, 2011 was a huge year for smash hits. So many, in fact, that we could have a dance party with 2011 songs alone.

So, in celebration of Carly Rae Jepsen, girls making the first move and same-sex attraction, we’ve compiled a list of all our favourite party hits that came out 10 years ago.

And for what it’s worth CRJ, we’d definitely call you.

Call Me Maybe — Carly Rae Jepsen

Carly Rae Jepson’s debut single, about being into someone and giving them your number. It was the song of summer 2011.

We Found Love ft. Calvin Harris — Rihanna

Rihanna and Calvin Harris teamed up on this true party anthem. This song reminds me drinking too much cask wine and jumping up and down to strobe lights in a backyard marquee.

Someone Like You — Adele

Adele had just broken through and this single-turned-album was one of her biggest to date. I played this song when I found out that my crush didn’t like me back.

Domino — Jessie J

Jessie J was pretty fresh on the scene and this song has always been an undeniable dance party smash.

What Makes You Beautiful — One Direction

None of us can pretend we don’t know every single word to this song.

Feel So Close — Calvin Harris

This one was for the cool kids, the kids that liked to party and had hot boyfriends at 15. It reminds me of this one pool party I went to where I made out with a guy that looked like Taylor Lautner (and all my friends were jealous).

Firework — Katy Perry

“Do you ever feel like a plastic bag? Drifting through the wind wanting to start again?” No not really, KP. But still, absolute banger.

Party Rock Anthem — LMFAO

This song was huuuuge. I don’t know why but I don’t care because I still love it. Was this the birth of shuffling? Iconic.

Grenade — Bruno Mars

Have you ever sat and listened to these lyrics closely? Bruno Mars loves HARD.

Super Bass — Nicki Minaj

This is Nicki at her peak.

Moves Like Jagger — Maroon 5 ft. Christina Aguilera

OMG Maroon 5 is so good at making hit songs and when you have Xtina by your side, anything is possible. I have performed so many dance routines to this song.

Raise Your Glass — P!NK

If you don’t have you hands (glasses) in the air and jumping up and down to this song, then I can’t help you. These lyrics too, I literally can’t deal-io.

Born This Way — Lady Gaga

The start of an era.

Stereo Hearts — Gym Class Heroes ft. Adam Levine

This song is a combo of pop and rap; the definition of Y2K.

Dynamite — Taio Cruz

I mean. I think this was my ringtone at one point.

Back to December — Taylor Swift

That time you broke up with the nice boy because he was too nice and then you felt terrible about it because he didn’t deserve it and it’s not his fault that you’re always into boys that are mean to you.
