Swim Carefree at the Beach or Pool With Modibodi’s New Range of Period-Proof Swimwear

If you’ve ever experienced having your period while you’re in swimwear at the beach, a pool party or a community pool, you’d know how awkward a situation it can be.

If you’re wearing a tampon, you’re constantly worried about the string coming out. Or, if you’re not wearing anything to stop your flow and just risking it, you’re back and forth to the toilet. Either way, it’s not ideal.

So, you can imagine our excitement then to see that leading period-proof undies-maker Modibodi has, as of today, launched a range of swimwear.

The collection of one-pieces and bikinis were designed to build confidence, remove the stigma and help you avoid sitting out summer due to life’s leaks. Not only that, but they’ll also help you lessen your impact on the environment – made from 78% recyclable material, which works to reduce textile waste heading to landfill, all without compromising on comfort, style or performance.

Period-proof-wear, in general, is better for the environment, as it means you’ll be using fewer pads and tampons. And with Australian women using 500 million pads each year, and every product taking between 500 and 800 years to biodegrade, the impact of period-proof-wear could be significantly less damaging to our planet.

“Our Recycled, UPF50+ Swimwear range is suited to all bodies, and we’re excited to launch a product that is super stylish, sustainable, and leak-proof,” says Kristy Chong, Modibodi’s founder and CEO.

“Our new swim images feature some of our incredible customers, including a new mother who is three months postpartum, and a person experiencing their period during the photoshoot. As a brand, it’s important to us to be as authentic as possible to help normalize real bodies and real experiences.”

High-profile environmentalist, marine conservation advocate and one of Australia’s top plus-size models, Laura Wells, is one of the faces of the new swimwear campaign.

“My background is in marine biology, so I’m absolutely at home in the ocean,” says Wells. “I love Modibodi because sustainable swimwear and reusable period underwear are fantastic for the environment.”

“It means we are not putting single-use plastics into landfill every time we use a pad or tampon. By wearing sustainable choices, we are saving our oceans and the future.”

The range comes in four patterns, prints and colours, including a simple black one-piece and yellow leopard-print bikini, comes in sizes 8-18 and features bikini tops that are reversible. The leak-proof bottoms can hold up to 10mls of liquid. Shop Modibodi’s new range of swimwear here.
