“Try to Actually Be Funny”: Abbie Chatfield Slams Kyle Sandilands for “Slut Shaming” Her

Instagram

Reality star turned influencer, podcaster, radio host, “Masked Singer” judge and all-round champion of calling a spade a spade, aka Abbie Chatfield, has called out Kyle Sandilands and Brittany Hockley for slut-shaming after the pair made disparaging comments about her on live radio.

The saga began when US rapper Yung Gravy appeared on “The Kyle and Jackie O Show” (where Hockley was also present) and mentioned that he and Chatfield were enjoying the early stages of a blossoming romance. Cute!

Unfortunately, Kyle decided to respond to Yung Gravy by saying, “You and everyone else. Line up”.

Brittany, who appeared on an earlier season of “The Bachelor” to Abbie, also commented, saying she had “no doubt” that the two were planning dates.

Refusing to accept the derogatory comments, Abbie shared her disappointment at Kyle and Brittany’s comments on Instagram, writing, “I was incredibly disappointed to hear Kyle and Brittany slut shame me on breakfast radio during an interview with Yung Gravy. I listened to the segment because a friend of mine said I was mentioned, and discovered a conversation that is not only sexist, and deeply upsetting, but also not even …funny? This ‘joke’ echoed throughout the entire interview is the lowest hanging fruit.”

The “It’s A Lot” host continued, “I’m fine to be made fun of, say my radio show is s**t or that my podcast never gets any awards (sad vibes), but don’t perpetuate misogyny on a huge platform, giving people listening a pass to slut shame. If it’s said on breakfast radio, it’s fine right? People on commercial stations and networks need to do better, and not jump to misogynistic rhetoric whenever they have the chance. Try to actually be funny, idk.”

Abbie, now 27, is no stranger to being judged over her sexuality.

During her time on “The Bachelor”, where she was a runner up on Matt Agnew’s season, Abbie was repeatedly criticised, both by her fellow participants and the viewers at home, via social media.

Maybe 2023 will be the year we stop slut shaming women on breakfast radio?
