The Teams Building Their Way to Glory on “LEGO Masters”
Fun-filled reality show “LEGO Masters” returned to Channel 9 earlier this month for its fifth season. And we don’t know which we’re more excited for — the intricate LEGO builds or Hamish Blake being back on our screens as the show’s host.
The producers have brought on a cast of contestants from past seasons and an unexpected duo to battle (or rather, build) it out for the title of “Grand Masters” and a cash prize of $100,000.
Each team’s creativity, technical abilities and storytelling have been put to the test as they try to build epic LEGO sets to impress judge and LEGO Certified Professional, Ryan “Brickman” McNaught. Already, we’ve seen the 16 contestants push through a range of unique building projects. From LEGO rockets that are ready to launch and not-so-mini castles in the sky, we’re sure to see a heap of incredible brick structures in the weeks to come.
If you’re a fan of the franchise, you may recognise the cast from previous years. But now, you’ll notice that some are paired with someone that they haven’t worked with before.
Which team will take home the title of “Grand Masters”? Read on to see the full “LEGO Masters” cast for 2023.
Alex and Caleb
Season 4 runners-up, Alex and Caleb are making another run at the “LEGO Masters” title and hoping to go all the way to the top. The duo from Sydney is one to watch for their unique executions.
Ryan and Gabby
Ryan and Gabby, third placers from “LEGO Masters” Season 3 have been planning a comeback ever since their exit in 2021. Their individual styles are very different, Gabby thrives when it comes to aesthetics. On the other hand, Ryan is skilled in technical building.
Sarah and Henry
“LEGO Masters” OG, Henry and Season 3’s Sarah have teamed up for a new season. Each of them has a trophy from their previous seasons. Although they haven’t built together before, their skills like Ryan and Gabby’s, complement each other.
Joss and Henry
Sibling duo and season 4 winners, Joss and Henry are back to see if they can go two for two. They’re going to be tough to beat. Three of Joss’ LEGO builds are on display at an exhibit in Denmark while Henry is an adaptive builder that’s good on his feet and works well under pressure.
David and Gus
David and Gus took home the LEGO cup in season 3 and they’re ready to get cracking on another “LEGO Masters” win. Having previously worked for judge Ryan “Brickman” McNaught, Gus has a secret insight into his mind. While David is an imaginative soul that builds miniscule but detailed designs inside bottles.
Scott and Owen
The besties from WA, Scott and Owen came second in Season 3 of “LEGO Masters”. Scott thrives when building minifigure dioramas and logical designs. While Owen uses his knowledge as an engineer to masterfully build mechanisms and create movement.
Andrew and Damian
Another pair of LEGO building best mates, Andrew and Damian placed second in “LEGO Masters” Season 2. Building LEGO sets since he was 8, Andrew loves to tell stories with his creations. And his partner in crime, Damian is great with the finer details and character brick building.
Kale and Trent
Previous “LEGO Masters” cast from season 1, Kale and season 2’s, Trent are an unexpected combination. Kale has a collection of over 3,000,000 LEGO Bricks and is well-known in the LEGO community. Trent is hoping to create sculptures that are out of his comfort zone and scream colourful.
