Elden Ring was released on February 25 and not a single day has gone by that players haven’t been sharing their experience of the massive RPG.

And it seems that, despite our better judgement, we’ve all been delighted with the game’s devastating combat and brutal bosses. It’s not hard to see why: the open world feels endlessly mysterious, with strange NPCs, surprising mini-bosses and game-changing loot hidden in every corner. Points of interest scatter the horizon, making it hard to get from A to B without wandering off to explore some other dungeon or castle or statue. Long-time Dark Souls players are calling it the hardest Souls game yet, but its open world approach also makes it the most approachable for newcomers. Any time you’re stuck on a puzzle or a boss, you can simply wander off to do something else and come back once you’ve levelled up and learned more.

People are also delighted with Torrent, your horse who looks like a cross between a horse and a goat, or maybe a bull. It’s unclear, but he has horns and can double jump, and carries you across the massive open world at high speeds. He’s a good boy.

It can all be a bit overwhelming sometimes, especially for new players. That’s why the Elden Ring app, Shattered Ring, is so useful. You can use it to keep track of quests, bosses, NPCs and locations, since the game doesn’t have a quest log. It’s a great tool if you want a little help navigating the Lands Between but don’t want to risk spoilers by looking up too many walkthroughs.

Since its release, people haven’t stopped making Elden Ring memes. Whether it’s about George R. R. Martin’s involvement, the brutal combat or the good boy Torrent, these memes have been the best thing about Elden Ring.
