As we get down to the pointy end of Australian Survivor: Blood Vs Water, we’re calling on the literal UNIVERSE for insight into who could possibly take out the title of Sole Survivor.
With a game like Survivor, it’s not just about who can be the strongest in a challenge, or who has the best IRL survival skills. A lot of the game is based on the connections you make with other people, your ability to read people and to strategise.
That’s where the stars come in.
If you’re unfamiliar with astrology, it’s all about where the sun, moon and planets were when you were born.
For your main star sign, your Sun sign, that’s based on the date you were born. To find your Moon sign, Rising sign and the rest of your astrological birth chart, you need your place and time of birth as well.
Now, astrology isn’t an exact science. In fact, let’s be real, it’s not a science at all. In fact, astro.com describes astrology as less of a science, and more of an ~art form~.
They explain: “Each astral chart is like a rabbit hole that goes deeper and deeper, striving for new meanings. The interpretation of a chart is never closed but always open. In fact, astrology is said to be an art.”
The idea of astrology is basically that the time and place you were born has an impact on your personality and characteristics, and learning about them will lead to a greater understanding of yourself and others.
Street Directory reports that “when you understand how astrology affects others and yourself, you can begin to use the knowledge of those influences to your benefit”, and THAT is handy in the game of Australian Survivor.
Take King Khanh Ong, for example, who gave us not only his Sun sign, Scorpio, but also his Moon and Rising signs while he was in the game. Your Moon sign is said to dominate your emotions, and to reflect your innermost view of yourself, stripped of your public persona and the way others see you. Meanwhile, your Rising sign is all about how others perceive you and how you present to other people.
Speaking to POPSUGAR Australia, Khanh said that his astrological chart “really says a lot about how [he] played the game!”
He explained: “If you know a lot about astrology, it’s like, okay, he’s a Scorpio, he’s got the Leo Rising, and the Cancer Moon. That really says everything you need to know about me.
“I’ve got that kind of dominating, Leo side that’s like the centre of attention, but I’m super strategic because of the Scorpio, and super emotional because of the Cancer! It makes total sense!” he exclaimed.
Asked whether he felt that his astrological chart was an asset or hindrance to his game on Australian Survivor, he laughed.
“I’m a mess, basically,” he said. “Those placements are probably some of the worst I reckon you could have in your life!”
Khanh explained that because Cancers are “super emotional and driven by emotion”, his Cancer moon was “not a strength in Survivor“.
At the same time, he felt that his Cancer moon was “really well-balanced by the fact that Scorpios are suspicious and they’re conniving and they’re sneaky”.
As for his Leo Rising, Khanh said it was “a disadvantage because you can’t hide in the background, you’re always going to be that kind of domineering personality, especially with a Leo Rising”.
To give ourselves the best chance at understanding our remaining Castaways, we’ve compiled this handy chart, breaking down their Sun sign’s main characteristics, strengths and weaknesses, as well as an example of them behaving like that sign in the season so far.
Taurus: April 20 – May 20
Strengths: Taureans are known for their “patience, and their ability to be resourceful, productive, and consistent”. Basically, they’re down to Earth and practical, and “can be counted on to stabilise, sustain and preserve what they value, be that their work or their relationships”.
Weaknesses: Ever heard the expression “mess with the bull and you’ll get the horns”? That’s what happens when you come for a Taurus. It may take a lot to piss them off, but once you do, they’ll see red and their stubbornness will be A Lot to deal with.

Jordan, born May 11th, 1992, is a Taurus. Jordan’s been strong to his alliance and played a very ‘steady as she goes’ type of game so far, which is very Taurean behaviour.
Gemini: May 21- June 20
Strengths: Geminis are smart, social and articulate, and highly adaptable. With “the power to be a change-maker”, Astrology.com reports that “Gemini’s archetypal traits are derived from its active, masculine, or yang qualities, making this sign oriented toward assertive engagement with the outer world.”
Weaknesses: Geminis get a bad rap for being untrustworthy, flaky and “emotionally evasive”. Because the Gemini is such a social creature, if they neglect their self-care, they often find themselves strung out and anxious, overstimulated.
Which Australian Survivor players does this apply to?
Jordie (25/05/96), Juicy Dave (31/05/1970) and Josh (09/06/1990) are all Geminis. The Tribal Council incident in which Juicy Dave nearly blindsided himself? That was peak Gemini shenanigans.
Cancer: June 21 – July 22
Strengths: Cancers are all about being “kind, giving, and sympathetic“, and absolutely love to play host. In social settings, they’ll play it cool, sussing out a social scenario before opening up to those around them. They’re also very good at reading the emotional temperature of the room.
Weaknesses: Cancers are deeply emotional and absorb the energy around them, which can mean they end up carrying other people’s emotional baggage. Matriarchal by nature, that can be read as bossy or domineering under the wrong circumstances.
Which Australian Survivor player does this apply to?
KJ, born July 12th, 1984, is a Cancer. This can be seen in the drama that unfolded between KJ and her sister Sophie earlier this season. As Sophie imploded, we saw KJ struggle as she read the emotional vibe of the tribe in a way that Sophie couldn’t, absorbing both the negative feelings the tribe had for Sophie, as well as Sophie’s hurt and upset over her blindside.
Libra: September 23 – October 22
Strengths: Straight up, Astrology.com says that Libras work best in pairs, which is perhaps why we have four of them left in Australian Survivor: Blood Vs Water. They report that Libras “epitomise balance, harmony, and a sense of fair play”, which are also strengths in the game of Survivor.
Weaknesses: Because Libras seek balance and harmony and peace, they can end up being pushovers if they don’t speak up for themselves, which can then bubble up into resentments and anger.
Which Australian Survivor players does this apply to?
Chrissy (28/09/1979), Shay (10/10/1990), and Sam (14/10/1984) are all Libras. Sam choosing to vote alongside her husband Mark, rather than play alongside the people she’s building relationships with and the people she wants to play with (Khanh, Jesse) is peak Libra behaviour.
Scorpio: October 23 – November 21
Strengths: Scorpios are hard workers, determined and keenly observant. According to Astrology.com, they “tend to be receptive and patient, letting others play their cards and show their intentions first to better understand the emotional and psychological dynamics of their relationships.”
Weaknesses: Scorpios can be secretive and obsessive, and find it hard to ~go with the flow~ or change direction once they’ve made their mind up about something. They’re also known to be “manipulative and controlling” when upset, and find it hard to forgive.

Mark, born November 3rd, 1979, is a Scorpio. Him not telling his literal WIFE Sam about his Hidden Immunity Idol? That’s Scorpio behaviour for sure.
Capricorn: December 22 – January 19th
Strengths: Capricorns are all about hard work and achieving their goals, and they’re not flashy about it, either. From Astrology.com: “Capricorn holds the qualities of being an achiever, a builder, and a climber, able to set and conquer the loftiest goals one step at a time.”
Weaknesses: Because Capricorns are so goal-oriented, they can become blinded by this to the point where it makes them “stubborn and relentless”. They can also be quick to judge, and if you burn them, they’ll likely chop you right out of their lives.
Which Australian Survivor players does this apply to?
Michelle, born January 1st, 1988, is our last remaining Capricorn in the game. When she entered the game, her one goal was to outlast her twin sister Mel, though, so she’s already achieved that!
