The Last of Us Part 1 comes out on Friday, September 9, on PS5. The iconic game has been rebuilt from the ground up to take advantage of the PS5’s advanced visuals, the immersive features of the DualSense controller and the sequel’s huge suite of accessibility features. Whether you’ve never played The Last of Us or you haven’t played since the PS3, Part 1 is the ultimate way to experience Joel and Ellie’s adventure.

A post on the PlayStation Blog explores some of the improvements: “From the art direction to the character models, the entire game has been rebuilt from the ground up to take advantage of a new generation of graphical capability, allowing this game to reach the visual fidelity that the studio aspired for when crafting this experience.”

In The Last of Us, hardened smuggler Joel is hired to escort 14-year-old Ellie out of a military quarantine zone 20 years after a viral outbreak ravaged society. What starts as a small job turns into an epic cross-country ordeal as Joel and Ellie learn to work together to survive.

When Does The Last of Us Part 1 Unlock In Australia?

The game will release at midnight in every time zone. That means New Zealand will be the first to play, closely followed by the east coast of Australia. Here’s when The Last of Us Part 1 releases in Australia in every time zone:
