Why “The Bachelors Australia”‘s Jed and Alésia Aren’t Putting a Label on Things

After a season full of ups, downs, and internal turmoil, tough decisions were finally made on last night’s finale episode of “The Bachelors Australia”.

Standing alongside Felix and Jess, and Thomas and Leah, Jed and Alésia are the only couple still together from the season. And, while they’re excited to see where things go now that the show’s over, they’re hesitant to put a specific label on what their relationship is at this early stage.

“We’re seeing each other, and we’ve kept a relationship throughout this that’s been somewhat exclusive,” Jed tells POPSUGAR Australia. “For us, it’s not too much changing, we talk all day… So I think we’re just continuing that on, but now we can obviously do it in a normal setting. We sort of know where we stand and are just excited to do some normal things.”

Despite knowing a proposal was the last thing Alésia wanted at the end of the show, we watched Jed put his heart on the line and propose anyway. But he admits there’s a valid reason behind him dropping the knee.

“I had to basically ask the question if I wanted her to have the ring,” he says. “I knew she was going to say no, I just wanted to be with her but I always wanted this beautiful ring to be on her finger, purely because it looks beautiful, so I was absolutely s***ing myself ‘cause I’m like, ‘This girl thinks I’m not listening to her and thinks I’m hellbent on being engaged’, which I wasn’t! I was hellbent on the gorgeous ring and the way it looked on her finger.”

Poor Alésia thought she was being pranked during the whole ordeal, but one glimpse of the stunning Larsen ring had her second-guessing her moral compass.

“I was so shocked, to say it caught me off-guard’s an understatement. I was just swearing so much,” she admits. “The ring is so stunning. I literally looked at it and was like, ‘Oh my god, do I just say yes ‘cause the ring’s so stunning?’ Then I was like “No, I can’t, I’ve got to stick on my moral ground.”

While Jed didn’t get the proposal he’d originally set out to achieve, he was just over the moon to have Alésia at the end after forming such a strong connection early on.

“I wasn’t expecting to feel the way that I did about Alésia as soon as I met her. For me, as soon as I met her, I instantly started falling for her, which was a foreign feeling for me. Even more, being on a show and having it filmed was even more foreign,” he says. “The hardest part was not being able to talk to her outside of the camera or microphone. I did honestly try to grow with the other girls, but a lot of the time it felt like I was cheating on my girlfriend.”

Alésia admitted that, during the show, she was a lot more guarded because she was so aware of drama in the house, or how her outside life could be affected.

“I felt quite reserved and I felt quite filtered because I was so concerned with just what I said ‘cause I had work at the forefront of my mind and I didn’t want to be the centre of drama and I didn’t want to talk to him about my ex when it’s on national television,” she says.

“For me, I feel like it’s not the space to do that, but then, why would you go on a TV show? We still managed to make it work to get to a space where we would have all of those conversations.”

As for what’s next for the pair, both Jed and Alésia admitted they are looking forward to the “simple things, like going for a coffee together or going to dinner and just walking around”.
