Are you a “MasterChef Australia” fan, dreaming of cooking up a storm in a professional kitchen with all the bells and whistles? Well, we’ve got the inside scoop on where all the magic happens!
The highly popular cooking competition show has been filmed at the Melbourne Showgrounds, in Centenary Hall, since its inception. The impressive Centenary Hall was built in 1934. Originally, its purpose was to showcase the display of farm and dairy produce during the Royal Melbourne Show.
The versatile space has hosted other productions such as Nine’s “Lego Masters” and Seven’s “Thank God You’re Here”, in addition to “MasterChef”.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald, the hall is “soundproofed and air-conditioned” with the purpose-built studio now housing a “fully functioning commercial kitchen, “boucherie”, herb garden, locker room, wine reception area, 120-seat restaurant and pantry.”
Season 16 of “MasterChef Australia” returns to the familiar location, but with significant changes to the judging panel. Melissa Leong has stepped down from her co-host role to focus on the new spin-off series, “MasterChef: Dessert Masters.” Andy Allen returns to the judging panel, joined by newcomers Poh Ling Yeow, Sofia Levin, and Jean-Christophe Novelli. Additionally, beloved chef Jamie Oliver joins as a recurring guest judge.
